In a dog-eat-dog world, no one loves anyone and this applies to andhra and telangana as well. The argument that andhra-rayalaseema ppl love telangana ppl and consider them as brothers and sisters is ridiculous. There is no love lost between the two.
Thats my stand.
Telangana was screwed for number of reasons ..and one of which is lack of water because of its not so easy environment to build dams. That dude cotton build a barrage not in telangana but in coastal andhra..and I am sure he had his own reasons and one of which couldnt be hatred towards telangana. But, I guess that argument is moot now with the present technology. If you notice, I am just talking about the starting conditions. The other reason was the exploitation by andhra leaders who represent none of the andhra people. They belong to certain classes and castes and they work only for those classes and castes.I am sure they did what they had to do to screw others and gain. The next question to ask is : How many people in telangana own agricultural lands?? why did the sentence, " nee kalmokkutha banchan" came from? Why did the Maoists started their agitation in telangana? Simple answer. --- Exploitation of poor telangana by the rich telangana is much more when compared to exploitation in Andhra. Thats the truth.I have seen it with my own eyes.
The culture is always dictated by upper classes and castes. I dont blame them because, part of the problem is that, economically and socially lower classes always try to emulate their masters.Telangana culture wasn’t able to become mainstream because, the media, especially film industry was in the hands of certain castes and classes. Its just a coincidence that those people are from andhra. Please understand the subtle difference. Take all the big heroes, producers and directors..and ask yourself to which caste they belong?? I am not castist or anything..I just want the truth. If you are talking about region, then why not talk about caste. Why talking about castes and classes became a taboo soo suddenly.
While talking about castes,I am not talking about the hindu 4 step caste system. For example, the Brahmin culture is made in to a joke in films, for example. Culture is dictated by the curious combination of class and caste system. The accent they use in telugu movies is not of andhra accent, but it is the accent of the districts of krishna and guntur....and belongs to certain castes and classes. I never heard a rich saw puller speaking that accent in vijayawada.
My dear telangana exploited friends, Did you forget about the movie we saw many years back, where you even came on bullock carts to watch?? The movie which was the quintessential telangana movie and which had the best lyrics ever in the history of telugu films. You remember?? You remember when it was not cool to talk about that movie and we were made to feel that it was uncouth ,dirty and low to appreciate it?? You remember? My friends, things didn’t change much, except some of you became rich, but refuse to help your brethren.(ie the rich lower castes joined the upper caste) (BTW, also please remember how I was not supported by you when I took up the torch many years back).
I am not saying that region doesn’t make difference..but that difference is minuscule when compared to other kinds of exploitation. For example, culturally, there is a huge difference between, west godavari district and krishna district.People who lived all their lives in godavari districts come to krishna, they feel a sense of lack of empathy..or feel that people are more cutthroat. And the same time, when they go to the villages of telangana (like veldanda or chevellla)..they bond with the locals as they feel that they both are in tune. They dont need to check their backs often.
Mainstream media portrays telangana culture (here again you should ask which section of telangana people??) as uncouth, rowdy etc. Please blame where the blame is due.
Now, who are supporting telangana?? I really dont care if the whole population of telangana wants a new state. In india, it is very easy to whip up emotions..to the point of sucide and murder.I believe that telangana movement is totally misled, and I am afraid the real issues of exploitation will be forever swept under the carpet. But, I do understand about telangana sentiment, especially when all the political parties went with the mandate of separate state in the previous elections and backstabbed it...including chiranjeevi.
This is a comment I heard from a telangana hot blood dick head : "Andhravollu antha madhigalanjaakodukulu..get out of my state".
If this ignoramus of a person is part of the movement (BTW, he is highly educated), then screw this movement...and screw the other movement as well.
Then, why the hell is every one fighting?
The fight is for greater hyderabad region..that is the 'hide the salami' behind the samaikkyandra movement, not a brotherhood and they really have a legitimate reason for that. The fight for hyderabad is not only about money or realestate, it is also about the culture and the feeling of 'home'. Every family in andhra or rayalaseema has someone in hyderabad and they do believe that hyderabad is their home. I personally would rather stay in hyderabad as I hate the caste stinker of domination in andhra, even if it is from my own caste. Now, the telangana movement is asking for hyderabad..and imagine how ridiculous it is. Telangana is like brother in the family who instead of seperating, wants to throw out the family. Thats utterly ridiculous. The fact that hyderabad is in the region of telagana doesnt make any difference. If there is any lesson from the assholes of siva sena, it is the lesson that a city like hyd cannot survive under telengana, especially when emotions have reached to dangerous levels. The politicians love smaller regions, because it is the principle of divide and loot. If not for hyderabad, all the andhra and seema policians would be salivating at the thought of separate states. I am predicting that the movement for separate andhra and seema will grow as we go on.The Maoists are supporting seperate telangana because, now it will be very easy to restart their crushed movement. As simple as that!
The only solution is a 4 state solution. Why not?? I ask people who are advocating small state solution.
If telangana is given, then rayalaseema won’t be sitting idle, they too want a separate state.
Initially I was for united andhra, but things have reached to a level, that unity is impossible.
4 states : Telangana, Hyderabad, andhra and Rayalaseema. It is the only solution.
I am not saying that 4 state solution is the only solution..I am saying 4 state will be the natural consequence of the separate telangana. Just like solid, liquid, gaseous and somewhere in between.
700 buses?? Enough! It’s all our money. If you notice, the words used by leaders like KCR and others, it is subtly progressing towards (inciting of) violence. If one person gets killed in one group, the other group will certainly react in a much more violent way.People will die..blood will flow..and we all need to step up and be part of the solution. We don’t need terrorists to destroy our country, it can destroyed within and by its own citizens.
Listen: If you are not part of the solution..then you are part of the problem.
I have great confidence in the stupidity of Indians. I have seen it during the babri masjid demolition, Godhra and subsequent riots. Because, you know what, it takes great amount of courage for a killer to kill a victim, when the killer is among hundreds of blood thirsty mob.Ya,right! You don't believe me? Just ignore for while who is hitting who and ...

Telangana will be a reality in 2010
All I understood from your article is you need Hyderabad ;-)
We don't need development, we need entertainment. Read any news paper you'll be entertained for hours, days, years, decades, till one dies and great grand son too ....
your comment is as confusing as my article ;)
Is the colour difference because we south indians are nearer to the equator ?
Did ramayana take place or is it the writers happucination ;) ?
Very well written and I seriously don't think your article was that confusing.
True you made quite a few valid points like the leaders trying to aggravate the already enraged situation and also the stupidity of the citizens. I totally concur with these.
4 states could be a possible situation. It is so sad to see the educated class also supporting the foolish yet highly followed Politicians partisan policy.
Btw, I loved the line
"We don’t need terrorists to destroy our country, it can destroyed within and by its own citizens."
@hanmi reddy
this is 2011...
Im sure t-movement is not gonna work, the media is fed up..Its a sensation if something happens once..but if it happens daily and ppl get two holidays per week(one t-bundh and one sunday)it has become a part of life.
And our gr8 drunkard leader has taken a break as its summer and t-bundhs will have no effect. He is going to be back on 14th may!! Hats off to him.
Nicely written article
btw im neutral abt the issue..But I dont support the way the movement is going on.
Arthur Cotton was a British officer in British India. Telangana was a part of the Hyderabad state ruled by an Indian prince. Cotton couldn't have built the dam in Telangana.
