Let me tell you something about realistic portrayal of violence. Violence when realistically shown should directly take you and put you in the victims shoes. Such kind of cinematic violence would make you shun the violence or at least make you think twice about committing such kind of things. Some of the so called 'realistic' directors never showed realistic violence. They showed the dance of violence, where the bullets were soft and tears were fake. Scorsese glamorized violence ( btw, I have no problem with that and I like them)..but this scene is the most unglamorous portrayal of it. Even the killers had no fun killing them.Look at their faces.
Let me ask you about the morality of this situation. While watching this scene, just imagine, what if you and your siblings were in the position of those brothers. It could be some robbers or some religious riots. You wanna save your sibling. Emotions rise...and love comes out along with tears..and then you get the super human strength..and with that strength you fight back...but then...the iron rod strikes on your head. Just imagine your pain... disorienting .....head spinning....and your mother smiling..and then one more strike..which makes u fall. Where is the emotion? where is the strength? where is the will?? You just wanna survive. You would beg them..touch and kiss their feet..and would do whatever they want you to do. Dont blame yourself.
Thats just our genes!

Guess who?
